Little known fact, Nick Cage was not aware that he was being filmed during the production of this movie. The film crew just stayed perfectly still and he was unable to see them. This is how they got such a naturalistic performance from Nick. Every evening, they just had the best boy wave a road flare at him and then throw it into a ravine. He would dutifully follow it and reappear the next morning on set, summoned by the smell of fresh goat meat.
